Quest for Gold

Quest for Gold has had numerous changes over the last decade.

The Ministry has allowed OWP to design a new version of the program to maximize benefit to as many athletes as possible.

Please see below the outline of the proposal we have put forward to the Ministry. We are waiting for confirmation, however we believe the process below will remain unchanged:

A) Direct athlete funding for Age Group National Team athletes A total sum of $25,000 will be divided by the number of Ontario athletes who accept their AGNT nomination, with a maximum per athlete per program allocation of $3,000. Please note that if an athlete is selected for multiple national team programs, they will be eligible to receive funding for both programs (for example, if one athlete is selected for two teams, they will receive double the individual athlete allocation). Athletes who are of eligible age to compete with Team Ontario at the National Provincial Championships must commit to do so to receive funding. Athletes who are too old to compete at the National Provincial Championships are still eligible to receive funding. We will be able to provide an estimated range of funding once Water Polo Canada has disclosed how many athletes from Ontario appear on AGNT final rosters and alternate rosters. Please note that if direct athlete funding falls below $25,000, the additional funds will be allocated to initiative ‘B’ below.

B) National Provincial Championships will be partially subsidized by OWP/QFG
